Z-1 Film School was founded by film director Yavuz Özkan in 1995 with the aim of making young candidates feel themselves like real artists and for realizing them a contemporary rigging. The school has continued education program until 1998.

Z-1 Film School was the first and only School of Cinema and became a cinema education center with 33 important faculty members.

Up to now, over 50 young students have joined and today majority of them are producing in different steps of film section. Therefore, the Workshop is a kind of vane for the Turkish Cinema.

Today, some kind of universities and courses have started to study like Z-1 Film School has done until today and because of this the School decided to apply the universal standards of the cinema to the Turkish Cinema by preparing some international co-operations.

For realizing this new aim the School has started with the universal dimensions beginning from 20 April 1998. From this time,  Z-1 Film has conducted its studies taking care of the most important step, the scriptwriting in the filmmaking.  All these studies have been arranged by the  precious  Turkish, English, French artists and  academicians such as Yvette Biro, Sean Holmes and Tibör Klöpfler, in addition to these with the cooperation of Lodz Film, Television and Theatre School; Hungarian Academy of Drama, Film and TV, New York Tisch School of Arts and Royal Shakespeare Company.

The workshops arranged were Script Writing, which is the main subject, the Dialogue  writing, which is an unknown subject in Turkish Cinema.  Also,  Acting and Cinematography, which are the subjects, must be contemporary rigging  from now on. Except these, Advertisement, Photograph, Theory of Cinema, Grammar of Film and Editing seminars were arranged.

Cartoon Workshop, established during this period, was also Turkey’s first private cartoon school. Cemal Erez and Meral Erez, faculty members of Eskişehir Anadolu University, the only university-level school in this field, shared their experience and knowledge on cartoons with the students of the school.
