She is graduated from the Istanbul State Conservatory Theatre Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Çetin has been part of the Istanbul State Theatre. She started her cinema career as an actress in the movie
“Another Hope for Tomorrow“ directed by Yavuz Özkan. After then, she worked as an assistant director, art director and producer in Yavuz Özkan’s films. In 1995, she co-founded the Z-1 Film Studio with Yavuz Özkan.
Between 1999 and 2003, free cinema education was given at the
Z-1 Film Studio with an academic staff of 35 people consisting of artists, academicians, philosophers, litterateurs, communicators and masters of the cinema who were domestic and foreign.
At the school, a cinema magazine called “Studio” was also published with the contributions of students.
Educational activities at the “Studio” continued with the lecturers invited from “New York Tisch School of Arts”, “Lodz Film, Television and Theatre School”, “Hungarian Academy of Drama, Film and TV” and “Royal Shakespeare Company”. Around 170 graduates started working in the film industry.
Aycan Çetin worked as an assistant director, art director, general coordinator and producer in the feature films, documentaries, commercial films and introductory films realised by the Z-1 Film Studio. She directed documentary films. The films have won numerous awards at national and international festivals within the country and abroad.
Currently, she continues preparations of the production for the feature film “Legend” written by Yavuz Özkan.
